Proven to predict future job performance

A person’s cognitive ability is a powerful predictor of their future work performance and how suitable they are for the job.

Boost your organisation’s cognitive ability

Research shows that cognitive aptitude is one of the most accurate predictors of job success: twice as predictive as job interviews, three times as predictive as experience, and four times as predictive as education level. More than 100 years of research has clearly shown cognitive ability to be the single most powerful predictor of performance on the job, across all roles, industries and management levels. This is because a person’s cognitive ability reflects how well they will acquire, organise, retain and apply information on the job. People with high levels of cognitive ability can:

  • perform work tasks more accurately and efficiently
  • make decisions more effectively
  • use reasoning skills and solve problems
  • respond intelligently to new or complex circumstances.

Investing in cognitive ability testing empowers you, as a hiring manager, recruiter or business owner, to make confident decisions when hiring. This means your business will have a greater chance of increasing overall performance and decreasing involuntary employee turnover.

Assess verbal, numerical and abstract reasoning

Identify candidates who have the right traits to avoid counterproductive work behaviours.

Candidates will complete a set of up to 50 questions that measure their verbal, numerical and abstract reasoning ability. The Cognitive Aptitude Test (CCAT) is a dynamic assessment that draws on an item bank of thousands of individually optimised test items. This means that no two candidates will ever receive the same questions, giving you confidence in their individual results.

Scientifically validated

Proven construct and predictive validity.

The CCAT has been extensively validated, demonstrating that the test is highly predictive of job performance for a wide variety of jobs. Norms for the CCAT were developed using a sample of almost one thousand working adults aged 18 and older, representing a mixture of individuals from over 50 companies. Since the original norms for the CCAT were created, the CCAT has been administered over 5 million times.

The CCAT has been shown to be highly correlated to other leading measures of cognitive aptitude. Various studies have shown that CCAT results correlate significantly with job performance for a wide variety of jobs, but it is an especially effective predictor of performance for jobs that require enhanced abilities in the areas of problem-solving, learning, critical thinking, and verbal and mathematical reasoning.

Score report data to help you hire with confidence

Although our assessments have been developed and reviewed by registered psychologists, our reports are designed for easy interpretation by managers. The CCAT reports provide powerful information on your candidate’s cognitive ability, including:

  • Raw score: indicating how many questions (out of 50) the individual has answered correctly. Sub-scores specific to the candidate’s spatial reasoning, verbal ability and numerical reasoning are also provided.
  • Percentile ranking: a performance metric indicating how the individual scored relative to others who have taken the test.
  • Score ranges by position: See how your candidates’ scores compare to recommended ranges for common roles

Results are instant; you can view your candidates’ score reports as soon as they finish the assessment.
